Missions Trips Chapter 9: Family Time

The Zartman residence on Saturday
Was busy as a garden full of bees.
We all pitched in, alike in work and play,
And all to each we gave our energies.
When work was done, we headed into town;
To buy a souvenir was our intent.
We looked the market over, up and down,
Then made our choice and precious pesos spent.
Just one more stop, for artesano bread,
Then home again, the evening to enjoy.
With dinner done, the family all fed,
A couple hands of Skip Bo our employ.
The conversation always satisfied
And left each one the other edified.

The poem says more than the photos do. More and more I am inclined to put the camera down and enjoy time spent with loved ones, so you’ll have to pardon the lack of photos for this part of the story.

Mrs. Zartman got out her zither and showed Mary how to play….

We ate out a few times during the week, at places both familiar and unfamiliar to us. Mary and I both tried new things.

Our trip to market was nice. The Zartmans took us there so we could shop for souvenirs to carry back home to the family. Afterwards, we walked around a bit, and I became fascinated with the architecture and some of the people. The bird lady reminded Mary and me of a scene from Mary Poppins. In fact, we sang a few bars of the “Tuppins” song.
