Anticipation

distant rain in the mountainsParched grass turned yellow
Now withers in the sunlight;
Flowers lack luster;
Soil begins to crack open,
Inviting moisture inside.
Bright sky turns cloudy
While distant thunder rumbles,
Wind stirs in the trees,
Bowing leaves anticipate
The coming of a shower.
