Going for a walk with Grandpa
Today’s photos recall sweet moments and a few sweet indulgences too.
One of the sweetest moments in our family’s history was when my mother- and father-in-law got to see our first son. We didn’t live close, so visits were few and far between. They are both in heaven now, but the photos keep the memories alive.
Sweetness comes in many forms. Some is good to the palette, and some is good for the soul. I am rather fond of both.
Sweeter than Honey….
It’s nice to have something sweet to eat from time to time, and it’s wonderful to have precious people around who make life special in their own way. But above all that, the sweetest thing to me is God’s Word. In fact, I’m not alone in saying so. Read what the psalmist wrote, as he described God’s Word in such a beautiful way:
Psalm 19:7-11
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul:
the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart:
the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever:
the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold:
sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Moreover by them is thy servant warned:
and in keeping of them there is great reward.
All 176 verses of Psalm 119 talk about the Word of God. And verse 103 in particular describes it this way:
Psalm 119:103 How sweet are Thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
What about you? Is God’s Word sweeter than honey to you? If not, then I invite you to…
Psalm 34:8 …taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man who trusts in Him.
