I was a sinner, struggling alone
Under the burden of sins I had sown.
Then I asked Jesus my lost soul to save,
And mercy forgot what love forgave.
My sins were many, but God put them all
Under the blood Christ shed for Adam’s fall.
He bought my pardon, and now I am saved.
Mercy forgot what love forgave.
Jesus forgave me all of my sin,
His love now holds me so close to Him.
And when my feeble soul starts to doubt,
In mercy He says, “What are you talking about?”
My sins were many, but God put them all
Under the blood Christ shed for Adam’s fall.
He bought my pardon, and now I am saved.
Mercy forgot what love forgave.
Christ has no mem’ry of sins now erased;
‘Cause mercy forgot what love forgave.
Yes, mercy forgot what love forgave.
This week’s Song for Sunday is another gospel song that came to me a couple years ago. It’s my testimony of what Jesus did for me. I have a hard time forgiving certain people for things they’ve done, but Christ Jesus forgave all of my sins the first time I asked, and then He promised never to remember them against me anymore. And here is a beautiful thing. God wanted so much for us to understand that we are forgiven, He said it three times:
Jeremiah 31:34b I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
Hebrews 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
This song has been recorded and published on YouTube. I invite you to listen below. It’s not professional, mind you. And one other note: On the recording, there is a bridge that comes from another song, “What Sins Are You Talking About?”
And Jesus said,
What sins are you talking about?
I don’t remember them anymore;
From the Book of Life they’ve all been torn out.
I don’t remember them anymore.
