from Day 21
“Waiting on God: The Almighty One”
You know how the eagles’ wings are obtained. Only in one way—by the eagle birth. You are born of God. You have the eagles’ wings. You may not have known it; you may not have used the. But God can and will teach you to use them…. He stirs up your nest. He develops your hopes. He stretches and tests your confidence. He makes you fear and tremble, as all your strength fails, and you feel utterly weary and helpless. And all the while He is spreading His strong wings for your to rest your weakness on, and offering His everlasting Creator-strength to work in you. And all He asks is that you sink down in your weariness and wait on Him; and allow Him in His Jehovah-strength to carry you as you ride on the wings of His Omnipotence.
Murray, Andrew. Waiting on God (CLC Publications: Fort Washington, PA, 1999), 96-97.
I have deliberately limited myself to only twelve quotes from this book, as with every book which I feature here, but there is so much more that I wanted to share with you. Of course, I’ve shared these twelve clips to whet your appetite to want to read this devotional book for yourself, so by all means get this book and make it a part of your quiet time. Andrew Murray is one of my favorite authors, and his writings never cease to encourage, uplift, and convict my heart.
