One there is above all others,
Well deserves the name of Friend;
His is love beyond a brother’s,
Costly, free, and knows no end.
Which of all our friends, to save us,
Could or would have shed his blood?
But the Savior died to have us
Reconciled in Him to God.When He lived on earth abasèd,
John Newton
Friend of sinners was His name;
Now above all glory raisèd,
He rejoices in the same.
O for grace our hearts to soften!
Teach us, Lord, at length, to love;
We, alas! forget too often
What a Friend we have above.
Copied from my grandmother’s hymnal, Hymn Book, Methodist Episcopal Church, South: Nashville, TN, 1901, Hymn #75.
Note: The hymns in this hymnal are not titled. So when I do not know the hymn, I make up a title or simply use the first line.

My Dear Reader
The first weekend of March I will be at my very first juried art show! That said, the next couple weeks will be dedicated to the studio, with less time given to my blogs. Some posts are scheduled, and I will check in from time to time to respond to comments, but please excuse me if it takes a little while. Thank you so much for reading! I’ll be back!
