31 Days of 5-Minute Free-Writes

Day 2: Afraid

Kate Motaung, host of Five-Minute Friday, has challenged us to 31 Days of Five-Minute Free Writes, in which we will explore the telling of our story. This isn’t the first such challenge of hers, but it is the first for me.

So the entire month of October here at The Abundant Heart Blog is the baby shower for my “baby,” my first book, Reflections of a Mother’s Heart, which is in its final trimester. As I stated yesterday, you all are invited, and I am tickled pink that you are here.

Typically at the baby showers I’ve attended, a woman with many years of experience as a mother will give a challenge to the new mother and the others present. Well, this shower is a little backwards as I, the new mother would like to share a few things I have learned. I haven’t finished my book yet, so no, I technically have no experience. But what I have to say is about life, and these lessons may be applied to writing a book, or whatever else the Lord has called you to do.

Actually, it is not me speaking to you, but our Father speaking to us….

Lesson 1: Be Not Afraid

2 Chronicles 20:15b  Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

Writing a book is scary. Giving it to the world is even scarier. But God says, “Be not afraid, for the book is not yours, but Mine.” If He called you to do this task, you may rest assured that He will equip you to see it through to the finish.

  1. Angela, YES, this IS His book. I’m going to remember the words He gave you today. I feel they were for me too. I like your perspective. Thanks for visiting my blog (myconcretedove.wordpress.com), as it is still a work in progress. YOU ARE THE FIRST TO FOLLOW ME ON WP! I’m taking that as a vote of confidence, and I’ll return it by following your blog. Keep writing!

    • Oh, wow, Jae! What an honor to be your first. I hope I’m the first of many WP followers to come. And I’m so glad you found something here for you. I do believe that’s why our Lord would have us share our experiences and lessons learned, because we can learn and grow from each other. I love your blog. Keep up the good work!
