On April tenth the trees wore vibrant green,
The yard was filled with new life bright and gay,
And the chickens somehow knew that it was spring.
Inside upon his bed my father lay.
He died that day. We did not think it mean
That God from us would carry him away.
He did not reach his threescore years and ten,
And yet his life was full, his days well spent.
He did what God required of him, and then,
In everlasting life, to heaven went.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints.
1 Corinthians 15:55-57 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
John 14:19 Because I live, you shall live also.
