Sunshine on My Shoulders

toddler-boy-outside-in-socks

apologies to John Denver

When there’s sunshine on my shoulders,
I’m as happy as can be.
As I squint up to the sunlight,
I feel playful and care-free;
For its rays are like a blanket,
Spreading warmth all over me….
When the sun is shining brightly,
That’s okay, I little care,
Just so long as I have shades on
To protect my eyes from glare.

    • Thanks, Lynn! Just trying out a new form. After I published it, I found the cutest closeup of one of my sons with sunglasses, from when he was little. I’ll have to use it some other time. 🙂 This little fella is a second cousin.
