He left a boy. He came back a Marine.
Sharing this in honor of my son Matthew Rueger, a current Marine Corps Reservist; my nephew Tracy Adams, USMC retired; and my brother David Umphers, former USMC, deceased.
Happy Birthday to the United States Marine Corps from one proud MoM!

Ooh rah! Tell your husband we thank him for his service. And thank YOU for your sacrifice as well. I am a Navy brat, as both my dad and husband are retired Navy, but in our extended family we have representatives in all branches of service, and our younger son (the tall one) is waiting for acceptance into the Army. I love our country, with all its faults. There’s no place I’d rather be.

I do too, no better place! He had just gotten out when we got married so I can’t claim to have had any sacrifices (other than the effects it has on vets and helping him (us) get through them. Have a great day celebrating your amazing family!!

I understand. My husband and I were only married 5 years when he retired. You have a fabulous day with your family too!
