Stillness

dogwood treeWhat is it in the morning calls for stillness?
The tall trees stand composed and at attention.
The songs of birds are hushed, with one exception,
And silent chimes announce the absence of the wind.

And likewise in my heart there reigns a calmness,
The product of a restful night of slumber,
Awakened to a new day filled with wonder
And ready to be still and know the God within.
