FMF: Anniversary

couple standing hand in hand on footbridge, looking lovingly at each other

Another year has come and gone
Another year of loving you
Another year of memories made
Another year to look ahead

Another year of loving you
More trust and oneness to pursue
And every day our vows renew

Another year of memories made
Of countless times together prayed
Ensuring that they will not fade

Another year to look ahead
To I-love-yous as yet unsaid
More precious than our daily bread

Today’s poem was written for the Five-Minute-Friday Link-up: ANNIVERSARY. This year my husband and I will celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary. The years have not all been easy; but then, everything worth having involves hard work.

To be honest, I am amazed at how much my husband and I have grown together. We truly do complement one another. We complete each other. And yes, he is my better half!

Here is the scansion for the poem, in case you are interested…

Trimeric
a 4-stanza poem comprised of a quatrain and three tercets
Total length: 13 lines
The 1st line of each tercet begins with the respective line in the quatrain (similar to a troiku).
The sequence, then, is ABCD, B – -, C – -, D – –
There is no line length, meter, or rhyme requirement or prohibition.

For my Trimeric, I used iambic tetrameter with a rhyme scheme of ABCD Bbb Ccc Ddd
