Free from Sin

(Moving on from Romans 7 to Romans 8)

Redeemed from hell,
But still within this fallen frame of flesh I dwell.
A slave to sin
And powerless to break the chains that bind within.
I want to live
A life of victory, to God all glory give.
He put in me
The will to conquer sin and live victoriously
While I have breath.
But who will free me from the body of this death?
Impossible!
In my own strength—but by the Spirit powerful,
Who daily moves
Within my heart, my will empowers and sin reproves,
From sin I’m free!
As every day the Spirit gives new victory.
Without Him I
Can nothing do to purge my heart and purify
From sin—But God
Will sanctify me ‘til I leave this path of sod.

Romans 7:24-25a; 8:1-2  O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. There is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
