The Center Cross

three wooden crosses in an open field

His pain
my gain
Christ paid in full my penalty
by dying upon a rugged tree
for me—
from sin
I’m free

my stain
His bane
as Christ upon the center cross
bore my sin and suffered loss
stripes across
His back
the cost

in vain
hell’s reign
defiantly dared to stand in stead,
oppose the Holy One, anointed Head.
He bled
but lives—
death’s dead

A poem for Thanksgiving

This is my offering of gratitude to the Lord for the precious gift of Himself. He is far above all kings, all priests, and all prophets because He lives, He is life, and He is the giver of all life.

Hebrews 7:25  Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever lives to make intercession for them.

Colossians 3:4  When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall you also appear with Him in glory.

John 6:33  For the bread of God is He who came down from heaven, and gives life unto the world.
