I will extol You, my God, O king;
and I will bless Your name forever and ever.
Every day will I bless You;
and I will praise Your name forever and ever.
Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised;
and His greatness is unsearchable.
One generation shall praise Your works to another,
and shall declare Your mighty acts.
I will speak of the glorious honor of Your majesty,
and of Your wondrous works.
And men shall speak of the might of Your terrible acts:
and I will declare Your greatness.
They shall abundantly utter the memory of Your great goodness,
and shall sing of Your righteousness.
The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion;
slow to anger, and of great mercy.
The LORD is good to all,
and His tender mercies are over all His works.
All Your works shall praise You, O LORD;
and Your saints shall bless You.
They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom,
and talk of Your power;
To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts,
and the glorious majesty of His kingdom.
Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and Your dominion endures throughout all generations.
The LORD upholds all that fall
and raises up all those that be bowed down.
The eyes of all wait upon You;
and You give them their meat in due season.
You open Your hand
and satisfy the desire of every living thing.
The LORD is righteous in all His ways
and holy in all His works.
The LORD is nigh unto all them who call upon Him,
to all who call upon Him in truth.
He will fulfil the desire of them that fear Him:
He also will hear their cry, and will save them.
The LORD preserves all them who love Him:
but all the wicked will He destroy.
My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD:
and let all flesh bless His holy name forever and ever.

For the month of November I have chosen psalms that focus on praising the Lord, and I have chosen to present them with very little commentary so as to simply let the psalms speak for themselves.

My little comment about today’s psalm comes from verse 4:

One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts.

Actually, it’s more of a challenge than a comment. Do you praise the works of God to the next generation? Do your children know what great things the Lord has done for you and your family? If not, then tell them. When the children of Israel, as a nation, forgot God, it was because the parents failed to tell the children of the wondrous works of an almighty God.

He ever lives to make intercession for the saints, but we can’t see it with our eyes. We walk by faith. And our faith must be continually strengthened by reminders that keep our focus on the One who guides, protects, provides, and intercedes on our behalf. He is our all in all. Let’s not forget that. But more importantly, let’s teach this truth to the next generation.
