Like a Mother

sisters-and-steps

She wasn’t there
To give me birth
Or chronicle
My every “first”
When I was young

But she was there
To wipe my tears
And cheer me on
Throughout the years
Just like a mom

Linda Luna’s challenge to write a Double Five, a portrait of a loved one, is the perfect way to wish a Happy Birthday to my stepmom, Marguerite Umphers.  Thank you for being a mother to me. You have been a great influence, and I love you very much. ♥
