Doing Dishes

sink-full-of-dirty-dishesDoing dishes dulls my day,
Makes me cranky, sad and blue;
How I wish they’d go away—
I’ve got better things to do.
Simple woman came to say,
“I’d cheer up if I were you.
I went hungry yesterday,
So my dishes, they are few.”
Now I wash them while I pray,
“Thanks for food—and dishes, too!”

August 19, 2002 ~ Sometimes I complain about having to do the dishes; I suppose most folks do who have been tasked with that chore. But one good thing about doing dishes is that it requires little thought, so it is a good time to reflect on more important things. Sometimes I sing, either aloud or in my heart; sometimes I review Bible verses that I am committing to memory; sometimes I pray for whomever the Lord brings to mind. Today I wrote a poem.

  1. Hi Angela! Did you seriously write that poem? It’s soooo good! I think I’ve said this in a previous comment but you really must get your poems published!

    If you want to introduce your blog on my ‘Promote Your Blog’ page, you’d be very welcome, although no problem at all if it’s not something you’d like to do. I’d just like to draw my readers’ attention to your wonderful poetry and that’s a good way of doing so! The page is here:

    God bless you and keep writing 🙂

    P.S. I guess you’ve come across the poem ‘Dust if you must’?
