Before I sit to cup of tea,
I look the choices over.
A dozen or so blends I see,
Of some I’ve tasted never.
Old Earl Grey is not for me,
“I Love Lemon” lies,
Chamomile tastes like a tree
With cinna-stick surprise.
Then I behold with gladsome glee
The one that I like best,
And I sit down to cup of tea
And calmly take my rest.

Love this! I laughed when I read “Chamomile tastes like a tree” – I considered it earthy for sure, but I like how you described it! 😂
Your poem leaves this to the imagination, but I’m curious: what is your favorite kind of tea? 🙂

I’ve recently discovered Oolong tea, and it’s my new favorite for its rich, robust flavor. I can’t drink it at night though, because it keeps me awake. But when I wrote this poem, in all honesty, my favorite was Sleepytime, which is a blend of chamomile and mint. 🙂

I like Oolong too, and I don’t drink it at night for the same reason. 😅 (I actually like Earl Grey as well, even though it has a very distinct taste to it.) I like Sleepytime too, though I think I like pretty much any tea that has mint in it. Currently, I’ve been drinking a lot of green tea with mint.

I like green tea too, and rooibos is another recent addition to my sampler. They all have properties that aid in weight loss, and they are working for me. 🙂 I have a recipe called “The Slimmer” that uses Oolong and cinnamon as the key ingredients. It’s delicious! I drink it cold, but normally I prefer my herbal drinks hot.

🙂 I haven’t had rooibos before; is it a milder tea or a stronger tea?
Oh, yummy! 🙂 I haven’t tried cinnamon in it before. I may have to try that!

Milder, and it tastes naturally sweet to me. Very good as a bedtime tea.

That sounds really good; I’ll have to try it soon! 🍵

Wow! What an interesting perspective. Tea has been on my mind a lot lately too. In fact, I’ve been thinking of writing a new poem, but I really like what you did with the theme.
