Prudence serves as informant
Of sin-tendencies dormant
Calling on God’s strength in order
To defend heart’s fragile border
That if I will heed her instruction
I may escape sin’s sweet seduction
As I a Christ-like attitude foster
I will foil the plan of the imposter
And cling to the Rock, who is my safe haven
Upon whose hand my name has been engraven
Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
July 22, 2017 ~ Daily Prompt: dormant
Con-Verse ~ an invented form created by Connie Marcum Wong. It consists of 3 or more couplets where the first couplet contains 8 syllables in each line, and each set thereafter adds 1 syllable. Thus, the syllabic pattern is 8,8 / 9,9 / 10,10 / 11,11… and the rhyming pattern is aa, bb, cc, dd, ee…. I went a bit further and ended each line with a two-syllable rhyme.
